Strategic Planning
Tucson, AZ
Do you have a vision for your church, but you just don’t know how to bring it to life?
As a Lead Pastor, where does strategic annual planning fit in your busy schedule? After sermon prep? After staff meetings? After member care? After?
The reality is that many Lead Pastors just don’t have the time or expertise within their staff to craft an effective annual strategic plan. It gets pushed to the side…a lost opportunity.
Effective strategic planning takes time. It requires a thoughtful process that in the end delivers a plan that is strategically sound, actionable, and realistic.
Over 30 years and countless strategic plans, I’ve developed a process that delivers.

Discipleship
Oregon Dunes, Winchester Bay, OR
Jesus tells us in Matthew 28 to go make disciples!
How does a church fulfill Jesus’ command? How do you know if your church is growing and maturing as disciples? Do people have a personal discipleship plan? Has your church provided a pathway for people to mature as a disciple?
These are tough questions. As a former Executive Pastor, I asked myself these questions of my church. As an individual, I ask myself questions like…am I growing as a disciple? Am I making more disciples? What are my weak spots and how do I grow in those areas?
Discipleship. It’s fundamental to being a Christian. It’s the responsibility of the church.
Due North can help you provide that pathway.

Assimilation
Gunnison River, Colorado
Assimilation is how a church interacts with visitors once they’re on the church campus. It’s how the church connects visitors to the church and ultimately to Jesus.
Question: There’s a new family that is visiting your church…do you have a plan on how they are assimilated into the life of the church? If you do, what percentage of first-time visitors return? What percentage of first-time visitors make your church their church home?
Most churches build their assimilation around how the church is structured and how it operates. Due North believes there’s a better way to look at it. Due North believes that the church should look at how the new visitor approaches church shopping and then build a process around their needs…not the church’s needs.

Branding and Innovation
Lyndon Station, WI
How does your church stand out in a very busy world cluttered with thousands of different messages daily?
Church branding is very difficult. On one hand you want to attract young families but on the other hand you have people that are happy with the church they joined 25 years ago. How do you strike that balance?
To modify your existing church branding, a team of church leaders needs to ask many relevant and strategic questions. What does your church brand communicate? Who is your target audience? What is your target audience looking for in a church home? What do you want the modified brand to communicate? Does this new branding work well with all different church ministries? It’s complicated. Complex.
Over the course of 20+ years, I’ve worked with some of the best consumer focused companies when it comes to branding e.g. Colgate-Palmolive, Ralston Purina, and Bayer. Each company does brand development just a little bit different. I’ve taken, what I think, is the best of the best and created a process called OPEN DOORS. It’s a strategic step-by-step process that leads you to a point where you’re ready to hand off the project to graphic designers.
